Before Adding Rules
Open “Store overview → What customers searched for but did not find” and choose a recurring query. Confirm that the required product has actually been uploaded: a synonym cannot repair a missing card. Merchandising requires the product identifier from the export, not an arbitrary internal number or similar name.
“Catalogue” has separate “Search”, “Synonyms”, “Click-throughs” and “Results” tabs. These respectively configure searching, expand words, navigate to pages and change card order. Do not replace a product query with a redirect simply to avoid fixing catalogue data.
The Synonym Dictionary
- Open “Catalogue → Synonyms”.
- In the new-group field for comma-separated words, enter
айфон, iphone, for example, and click “Add”. - Add another name using the “+ word” field. Remove an incorrect term using its chip button.
- Click “Save synonyms”. Rules apply after saving without reindexing.
- Check every word in the group, plus a query that must not become synonymous.
A group is mutual: any word searches the others. Do not combine iphone with the entire apple brand unless you intend to mix phones, laptops and accessories. The editor warns about one-word groups and highlights words repeated across groups.
“Advanced mode” provides the text dictionary, with one rule per line. A directional entry such as incorrect name => correct name differs from a mutual group; test the intended direction separately. It is an advanced editor for the same dictionary, not a second independent settings section.
If AI is included in the plan, automatic suggestions provide “Generate”, then “Apply” or “Reject” for each recommendation. Review the original unsuccessful query and listed products. A model suggestion is not applied automatically and does not establish commercial equivalence between products.
Query Redirects
- Open “Catalogue → Click-throughs”.
- Enter a customer query such as
deliveryand destination/delivery. - Choose similar spelling, exact match or a pattern with
*. - Click “Add”, then test typing and Enter on the website.
- Use “Disable” to suspend the rule or “Delete” to remove it.
| Mode | What to Check |
|---|---|
| Similar spelling | Case, Russian ё and extra punctuation; not arbitrary semantic similarity |
| Exact match | The specific configured query |
Pattern with * |
For example, iphone*; ensure it does not capture too much inventory |
Bulk import accepts query;address[;type[;priority]]. For example: delivery;/delivery;normalized;10. Existing rules with the same query are updated. After uploading rules, examine skipped lines and errors rather than only the total count. Addresses must start with /, http:// or https://.
Merchandising
In “Catalogue → Results”, fill in the customer query and product code from the export. Choose “Pin”, “Move up”, “Move down” or “Hide”. Pinning supports positions from 1 to 50. Click “Add rule”; “See what you get” displays “Without rules” and “With rules” for the query, rather than guaranteeing the effect of an unsaved draft.
For example, pin a particular available sealant for “sealant”, not an unrelated item for every query. A manual rule is stronger than the learned order. Hide removes a card from the corresponding results, not from the store itself. Deleting a rule reverses that manual intervention.
A Banner Above Results
Open “Banners in search”. Enter a name for your own reference and the customer destination, then upload the desktop image and, if needed, a phone image. The form recommends 500–1200 × 100–200 px up to 150 KB for desktop and 320–800 × 60–120 px for phones. Without a mobile image, the general image is used.
Set the query, matching mode, priority, start and end dates and enabled state, then save. Instead of a query rule, you can enable display when no rules matched: this is a fallback banner, not an additional search result. Check its destination and dates. Table impressions and clicks cover the last 30 days; a CTR dash without impressions means there is no basis for calculation.
Categories and Troubleshooting
Assortment categories and the category filter come from catalogue data. Legacy “Widgets” also have a separate product-category display setting. Synonyms expand query words but do not change a product's category or enable its display in the widget. If a product is in the wrong category, correct the catalogue data rather than the synonym group.
After each rule, repeat reference queries both without filters and with a filter. If pinning is invisible, check the identifier, product availability and rule state. Send support the query, expected product and a results screenshot without keys. Continue with search, analytics, catalogue or all articles.
